FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1Are any other products available for hire?
Yes, the Ameda Platinum Hospital-Grade Breast Pump is available for hire. Please enquire regarding availability and rates.
2Is a new mattress included in my hire?
Yes, Hospital Bassinet Hire provides a new BabyRest mattress & waterproof mattress protector with each single bassinet hire ($50 value). Additional mattress protectors are available for purchase ($10 each). The mattress and protector are non-hire items – they are yours to keep.
Twin size bassinets are provided with a hospital-grade rental mattress which has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitised in between hires.
3What linen is needed for the bassinet?
A standard size cotton pillow case is all that is required to cover the mattress. The mattress is 31cm (w) x 67cm (l). We recommend you swaddle your baby and use a bassinet size blanket. Standard bassinet linen can also be used.
For twin size bassinet, we recommend a flat cot sheet folded in half to cover the mattress.
4How is the bassinet cleaned and maintained?
All bassinets are maintained at the highest standard. Prior to each new hire, the bassinet is carefully inspected, cleaned and sanitised. The cleaned bassinet is then sealed in a plastic bag and delivered ready to use.
Did you know? There is a difference between clean and sanitised? At ‘Hospital Bassinet Hire’ we follow a 2-step cleaning process:
– First we clean and rinse the surface using a detergent
– Then we sanitise the product using a hospital-grade disinfectant that sits for 10 minutes and is then wiped off (proven to kill viruses, bacteria and germs).
Note: During your hire period, clean the bassinet with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
5How do I organise for delivery & pick-up?

6 What are my payment options?
Credit Card, Bank Deposit or Cash on Delivery
7 Can I purchase a ‘bassinet hire’ as a gift?

Place a Hospital Bassinet Hire gift voucher on your baby shower wish list!
8What precautions should be taken when using the bassinet?
  • Always apply brakes to bassinet when placed in desired location.
  • Never leave a baby in the bath, for any reason, without the supervision of a responsible adult.
  • Provide a safe sleeping environment for baby following SIDS and Kids guidelines.
  • Discontinue use when infant can roll or sit unassisted.
  • Place bassinet in flat position when moving unit between locations.
9How far ahead do I need to book?
It is recommended you make a booking sometime during your last trimester. Advise us of your expected due date or birth of your baby as soon as possible so we can arrange delivery prior to your return home!
10My baby has arrived, but I do not have a booking. Can I still hire a bassinet?
Absolutely! Just call us on 0402 271 751 for Sydney availability.
11Do you request a security bond?
No security bond/deposit is required; however, if any of the bassinet parts are damaged during your hire, replacement fees will apply.
12Is assembly required?
The bassinet frame is one solid piece and does not require assembly. The bassinet tubs are delivered clean, sanitised and sealed in plastic ready for immediate use.
13Does the bassinet have drainage for bath use?
The bassinet can be used as a bath by removing the mattress; however, there is no drainage in the bassinet tub, so water has to be emptied using a jug or small bucket before lifting the tub to get rid of the remaining water.
14Can I buy a bassinet rather than hire?
Our bassinets are not available for sale. We do however offer a great discount rate on longer term hire and also provide a new mattress and protector with your hire.
15Do you offer a refund if I return my bassinet early?
No refund is offered for early return as we provide a discounted rate for longer hire periods.
